Taiwan is mainly using Chinese characters to type, read and write in the daily life. Some English acronyms may just being used as part of the sentence like CPR or GDP. The meaning is the same as in English. However you would probably see letter G quite often in the menu in Taiwan. Letter G may represents chicken in Taiwan. The reason people in Taiwan use letter G instead of the original character 雞 is that writing letter G is faster. Though the pronunciation of 雞 is different from letter G, but for some people in Taiwan they sounds the same. That is why a lot of people use the letter G to replace the original character 雞.
