「石」在中文裡是一個部首之外，在行列輸入法裡也是一個字根。但是因為依照行列輸入法的規則取碼的話，會產生10的字根碼，而10的字根碼已經有其他字根使用了，所以為了避免重複，例外將「石」放在5-，鍵盤的位置是5中，也就是英文母 G 的地方。行列輸入法裡頭難免會有一些例外的字根，需要稍微記憶，等習慣了之後就知道要怎麼取碼了。我們來看一下有哪些字會用到「石」這個字根的。

行列輸入法編碼為88的字根包含例外字根一共有5個，「米」就是其中一個88的字根。我們看一下「米」這個字的寫法，先是上方的8「丷」，接著是中間的正交4，最後是下方的「八」，所以取頭尾就是88。在電腦裡的行列輸入法（或稱行列30）是排在鍵盤8下的位置，也就是英文的逗號「，」。除了「米」這個字單獨出現之外，在上面多了撇9的話就會變成「釆」了。再來就看一些實際拆字的例子吧！

我們就從51開始介紹吧！
第一個要介紹的是
按照筆畫分別是5、1、1
所以取頭尾的話就是51
會用到這個字根的字有：
尹、君、書、盡、雪、唐、急、慧、妻、疌、聿、尋、肅、帚、康、庸、庚、事、爭……。
再來要介紹的是第2筆沒有出頭的51
跟剛剛一樣5、1、1。
差別在於第2筆沒有出頭的51
例如：艮、食、銀、良、痕、眼、跟、倉……。
接下來要介紹的51字根
就很直覺了，因為這個字根就只有2筆
就是順彎5橫1的
例如：已、己、巳、弓、改、巽、假、巨……。
當51這個字根用在「巴」這個字的時候
會跨越書寫順序
因為「巴」照筆順的話是5、3、1、2
不過為了整個字根的完整性
會先取51的 コ
再回去寫中間的3 │
最後才是 乚
下一個51的字根和剛才一樣只有2筆
不過這次的這個第2筆是有出頭的
一樣是取51

再來要介紹的是53
第一個53的字根是
一般會俗稱耳朵
不過這個耳朵會因為出現的位置而有所不同
相信「左阜右邑」大家都有聽過
而在行列輸入法當中都是取53
因為它的第一筆是順彎5，最後是3直
先舉一些「左阜」的例子：
阿、陣、防、阱、除、隊、陳、院……。
再來看一些「右邑」的例子：

這些都是拆53
再來53的第2個，同時也是5上鍵位的最後一個字根是
按照筆順是5、9、3
取頭尾是53
例如：皮、疲、坡、破、波。
